Our Story
Light to the Nations was founded on a verse and a dream. While attending a meeting at Bethany World Prayer Center in Baton Rouge I heard the preacher lay out a prediction, that Brazil would become the greatest missionary sending nation over the following decades. That simple message was enough to set my calling to return to Brazil and plant a missions church that would raise up leaders that would plant churches that raise leaders.
“It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.” Isaiah 49:6
This verse greatly impacted me and even became the name of our church and ministry. We began in 2000 by planting a church in a school. We soon moved to a large house, then a tent and recently to a purpose built building. Over the last decade we have been able to plant hundreds of churches working with leaders across Brazil, train hundreds of pastors through monthly pastors breakfasts, raise key Brazilian missionaries though the GAP (Global Apprenticeship Program), plant and oversee a growing number of Light to the Nations Churches throughout Brazil, and found a publishing house called EDILAN which publishes training materials and books by authors like John Bevere, Bill Hybels, Jentezen Franklin, Perry Stone, Robert Morris and Larry Stockstill among others.
